Biography

David received his undergraduate degree from Auburn University in 1978 and his law degree from the Cumberland School of Law in 1981.  David was the youngest lawyer in America to receive a million-dollar-plus verdict when he did so in 1982 (three times) at the age of 27.  Since that time, David has obtained over 35 verdicts in excess of a million dollars.

David is a sustaining member of the Alabama Association for Justice, a member of the Birmingham and Alabama State Bar, the American Association for Justice, the American Board of Trial Advocates, and the American College of Trial Lawyers. He is a Fellow of the International Academy of Trial Lawyers and the American College of Trial Lawyers, serving as the American College's state chair. David is Past President of the Alabama Association for Justice and continues to serve on the organization's Executive Committee. He has been inducted into The Inner Circle of Advocates, which is an invitation-only group, limited to 100 lawyers in the United States. To qualify, members must have tried at least fifty personal injury jury trials and obtained at least three verdicts in excess of one-million dollars, or one verdict in excess of ten million dollars. David has done both.

David Marsh is the founding partner of the firm of Marsh, Rickard & Bryan, P.C., in Birmingham, Alabama. He has been practicing law and representing Alabamians from all walks of life in personal injury, wrongful death and complex business cases for more than thirty years. This year, David received a unique honor:  Best Lawyers named David the Plaintiffs Lawyer of the Year for Birmingham in the practice area of personal injury litigation for 2012. Best Lawyers is the oldest and most respected peer-review publication in the legal profession. According to Best Lawyers, the lawyers being honored as "Lawyers of the Year" have received particularly high ratings in their surveys by earning a high level of respect among their peers for their abilities, professionalism, and integrity. 

David has been the top vote getter and named in the top ten attorneys in the statein Alabama's Super Lawyers--another peer-review ranking publication-- in every annual publication.

David has authored many articles on civil litigation and is frequently asked to speak to lawyer groups on trial techniques. For years, he co-authored, along with Tom Powell, a regular feature in the ALAJ Journal, called "Recent Civil Decisions."

David has handled cases in every county in Alabama, and appeared before the Alabama Supreme Court, the Fifth and Eleventh Circuit Courts of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court.
